Pre-Medical Foundation Programme

Since 1990, McDaniel College in Budapest has offered a foundation programme designed to prepare international students for Hungarian medical, dental and veterinary schools. They have a success rate of over 90% in terms of preparing students to take the universities' entrance exams.

There are two variants of the foundation programme, a two semester programme that also includes extensive English-language preparation, and a one semester intensive programme that focuses primarily on scientific knowledge. Both programmes lead to taking university entrance exams in May for admission the following September.

Students completing these pre-professional programmes can continue their studies worldwide but most of them aim at the following universities in Hungary:

• Semmelweis University, Budapest (medicine, dentistry, pharmacy)
• University of Szeged (medicine, dentistry, pharmacy)
• University of Pecs (medicine, dentistry, pharmacy)
• University of Veterinary Medicine, Budapest (veterinary medicine)

More than 10,000 students have completed the foundation programme since its introduction.

Application Process

Students who have completed high school are eligible to apply to the foundation programme. While BTECs cannot be accepted by Hungarian universities, any A' level subjects and grades are fine. The programme is designed to assist students with less than perfect grades.

The deadline for applying is 15th November for students who require a visa (including Brits post-Brexit) and 15th December for those who don't.

Please contact us for an application form. If you are a suitable candidate, we will ask you to pay the EUR 200 application fee. Your application will then be forwarded to McDaniel College for consideration. Once an offer letter is issued you will have to pay the entire fees immediately for the one semester programme and EUR 4,450 for the two semester programme.
