International Tourism Management (3 years)
As a tourism manager, you will the world both online and offline. You design trips, purchase at sharp rates and establish global contacts. International Tourism Management is your boarding pass to the future.
Do you love exploring new countries and different cultures and do you have commercial and leadership skills? International Tourism Management is the perfect programme for you. After earning this Bachelor's degree, you will know how to organise trips and promote these (online). As a tourism expert with a background in e-commerce, you might work for a tour operator, but you can also turn your own business into a success. Your knowledge of event management allows you to organise the most unique international events and incentives.
The sector
Tourism continues to grow worldwide and it is of crucial importance to our global economy. New business models and the advent of online entrepreneurship have reshaped the sector drastically. New travel products are constantly being developed. Consumers no longer want package or group trips. Instead, they are looking for unique experiences. Other developments, such as social media, reviews and mobile internet access, also lead to new trends.

Our International Tourism Management programme has been accredited by the NVAO and has achieved top marks in the Higher Education Guide for seven consecutive years. It has also received the highest scores in the National Student Survey nine years in a row.

- Tourism asks for TIO: A TIO degree is valuable in the tourism industry. That's why there is a great demand for TIO graduates.
- Specialisation in event management: Tourism involves much more than just booking a trip. MICE has become an integral part of the tourism sector, which is why event management is a major component of the International Tourism Management study programme.
- Small classes: You will attend theoretical lectures in groups of no more than 16 students, while practical lectures are delivered to groups of 10.
- Learning by doing: At least 60% of the International Tourism Management programme has a practical element. You will take part in two internships, conduct practical research and choose a minor with a practical focus.
- Cooperation with sector: TIO works closely together with trade associations (ANVR, the Fellowship for Event Managers and Thuswinkel.org) and experts with a wealth of practical experience in this field to ensure the course contents always reflect the latest trends and developments.
- Lots of guidance: On average, you will have 24-26 contact hours per week, except during your final year. The small group size means you will get a lot of personal attention. There is also plenty of room for supervision and guidance during projects. Finally, you can receive extra study coaching if you want.
- Interesting projects: Together with your team members, you create an incventive and group trips. As a future travel specialise, you also organise your own study trip and offer advice to travel agency. If you create the best trip during the Tour operating project, you will have the opportunity to go on that trip.
