This Bachelor's programme will be available in the 2017/18 academic year.

In the programme Philosophy of a Specific Scientific Discipline you will learn to question fundamental assumptions of your main study. If you are a student at the University of Groningen and you want to learn to critically reflect on topics in your bachelor studies, then this programme may be an interesting choice.

Philosophy of a specific scientific discipline is a combination study: the philosophical part of the programme consists of 60 EC and you can combine this with a university bachelor study (of at least 120 EC). In consultation, it might be possible to complete the programme in one year, but it is highly recommended to divide the study load over several years. After an introduction in philosophy, you can choose advanced courses philosophy of science, ethics, political philosophy or history of philosophy.

If you finish the programme, you will receive an official bachelor's degree and you can continue your studies in most philosophy master degrees. In the end, you will have trained your argumentative writing skills, the ability to identify sound and unsound reasoning and you will be able to relate philosophy and science.
