Course Description

BMW strives to maintain its leading role in producing top class vehicles. The demand for continuous improvement of performance, stability, safety, comfort and road holding is high. In order to make improvements in these areas, computer models involving complex calculations and simulations are used.

The course in Automotive Engineering at HAN University of Applied Sciences will prepare students to design and test complete vehicles, including passenger cars, trucks, buses, special vehicles, motorcycles, but also trailers, semi-trailers and caravans. The course offers a sound technical basis in mechanical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, computation skills and construction principles. It also provides a solid grounding in marketing, management and business economics. Students will gain a unique advantage in the profession by learning to combine technology with a good business sense.

Practical Approach

During the 1st semester of the 3rd year, students will do a work placement, which will give them the chance to work within a multinational company. For faculty of Automotive Engineering, HAN offers its students two interesting programmes, Light Vehicle Design and Vehicle Electronics. In the 2nd semester of this 3rd year, students will expand their knowledge by studying abroad for a semester. The final step of the course is embarked on during the 2nd semester of the 4th year, which is a graduation assignment with focus on either Development Engineering or Test Engineering.
