Practical-focus and flexible International Business degree with placement opportunities abroad
International Business is one of the four tracks within the International Business undergraduate programme at Rotterdam Business School (Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences). It covers major aspects of international business and management.
Flexible curriculum
The International Business programme offers a personaised study path.
In the first year, you will be introduced to Business studies and the goal of the programme. You will learn through case analysis, group discussions and professional literature to get an overview of the field. This enables you to think like a general manager rather a marketer, accountant or finance expert. You can also study a new language: Spanish, Dutch, German or French.
The second year builds on the foundation obtained in the first year, but focuses on in-depth international business subjects with electives. You will be able to choose the business areas that you want to receive further training on: communication, negotiation, leadership. Elective courses give you the chance to look beyod your own study programme and to fulfill your specific learning objectives.
The third year involves a placement in the Netherlands. In the fourth year, you could choose between two options:
- Do a specialisation programme
- Study a semester abroad
You will conclude your studies by completing a business-related research assignment for a company.
Practical focus
The International Business and Management programme follows the practical approach to education of Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences. Its curriculum is delivered in three learning tracks: knowledge-driven, practice-driven and student-driven education.
You will gain international work experience through a placement in the Netherlands or abroad in your second year, studying abroad for one semester at one of the partner universities of Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences or a graduation placement at an intenational company.
Career prospects with an International Business degree
The International Business programme prepares students for challenging careers in business management. Although its main focus is in international trade and commerce, you can choose relevant elective courses to develop skills in marketing, sales and finance management.
