Are you passionate about foreign languages? Do you want to know more about Europe, its history, and its present role in the world? Are you interested in literature and culture, politics, or linguistics? The various modules that form this degree programme will allow you to develop your interest in these subject areas.
Why study European Languages and Cultures with the University of Groningen?
Our unique programme allows students to gain a solid understanding of the major questions that are relevant in Europe today. The curriculum has an interdisciplinary nature. It combines Language and Society, Culture and Literature, Politics and Society.
You will get to study one or more languages and cultures among the following options: German, English, French, Italian, Russian, Spanish and Swedish. In your third year, you will have the opportunity to study abroad in the country of your chosen language(s) at one of our several partner universities.
How to apply
The minimum entry requirements for this programme are three A-levels.
Career opportunities
Creative industries (publishing, journalism), international organisation officer, translator and interpreter, marketing executive, local and central government, teaching in high schools and universities, academic researcher.
