Stenden Hotel Management School's industrial fair connects students with top employers
On 7th November 2017, over 800 Stenden Hotel Management School (Stenden IHM) students attended the Industrial Fair, an annual careers event taking place on campus. The event was to help current students at the School to explore future career options in the hospitality industry.
With 44 national and international hospitality companies exhibiting at the fair, Stenden IHM students met some of the top employers in the industry and explored internship opportunities. The participating organisations were Hilton Worldwide, Marriott, Intercontinental USA, Holland America Line, Hampshire and Apollo Hotels and much more.
All students who follow the Hotel Management degree programmes at Stenden IHM undertake a 10-month internship in their final year. Over the year many students have successfully turned it into a job offer and returned to the company that hired them as an intern for full-time employment after leaving university. Stenden IHM currently have over 12,000 successful alumni spread out all over the world.
David Edwards, Vice President Operations of Starr Catering Group in America and an exhibitor at the fair, said:
"The quality of Stenden hotel school students is by far the best we have ever come across. The Real World Learning they receive at school enables them to hit the ground running. The students are intelligent, well trained, sophisticated, and hard workers. They really add value to our company."
The event was a rewarding experience for Stenden IHM students as it offered them the opportunity to come face-to-face and network with big corporations and employers from the hospitality industry.
Due to the high number of requests from the industry, Stenden IHM will host another fair in March 2018. The School expects to welcome over 40 hospitality companies at this event. The initiative shows Stenden IHM’s long-term commitment to giving their students exposure to employers who recognise quality and talent.
