Entrepreneurial Studies at Universita Bocconi

 

Beatrice de Grandi is in her final year of the BSc in Economics and Management at Universita Bocconi in Italy. Founder of Vibe, an e-commerce website dedicated to promoting Italian handcrafted leather accessories and bags overseas, Beatrice has just launched her first collection in London. 

The idea for Beatrice’s company Vibe came from her lectures at Bocconi:

“From the very beginning I realised that what attracted me was the world of the enterprise. To create a project that was all mine has always been my secret dream and the degree path I chose at Bocconi provided me with the tools to understand the rules and the mechanisms to embark on such an adventure. The opportunity to interact with my professors and with the other international students gave me a lot of inspiration. A great support came from Aida Riolo and her colleagues at the Career Service, who organised meetings for me with start-up professionals and experts and helped me to draft a more structured business plan”. 

The initial investment, made without the support of an external funding, was mainly dedicated to the realisation of the website, to marketing activities and to establishing partnerships. 

Future plans for Beatrice include find a partner with complementary skills, to extend the business at an international level, to diversify the production with a new line of jewellery and male leather goods, and to engage with potential buyers within younger generations. 

The results are really encouraging by far and, after her success in London, Beatrice is already creating a network of young promoters in Hong Kong and Miami, thanks to the support of other Italian students and graduates at Universita Bocconi.
