More Information-

the course

The course in Fashion Styling is intended to train students to be creative with full mastery and in-depth knowledge in the prediction of trends, in the analysis and interpretation of brand style and visual communication.  At the end of the training course, the candidates will know how to apply these skills to the technology currently in use in the industry for the communication of fashion.  The students will learn how a global vision of the functions of a fashion system is invaluable.

Fashion stylists are experts in style and image. They reveal and enhance the style of a product line and ensure this is maintained throughout its promotional phases.  They are able to interpret the soul of a product and to communicate it through a style that is distinct.  Their job requires creative intuition and an awareness of trends; they must be able to identify new styles and propose an image that is coordinated to an entire collection in order to guarantee success.

Studying as a fashion stylist at the Marangoni design school opens the door to a brilliant career and to work in various sectors in fashion.  The successful completion of study offers various opportunities of employment within the fashion industry, allowing the candidate to work in fashion editorial in print-based magazines or online, and in the style and design offices of the main fashion houses.

Life after Marangoni ...

Katja Luostarinen

profession: Fashion Designer and stylist at Givenchy

programme studied: fashion design, three-year course - undergraduate

school: Paris

graduated in: 2010

At the age of 18 Katja attended a summer course at Istituto Marangoni in Milan and this experience sparked her passion for fashion design.

After completing her studies in her homeland of Finland, she enrolled at the Istituto Marangoni in Paris, where she specialised in menswear.

During the course, thanks to her skill at design, she gained experience as an illustrator and designer with Nathalie Ozier, Makia Clothing and other Finnish brands.

She helped as a backstage dresser behind the scenes of the fashion shows of Romeo Gigli and Jean-Paul Gaultier. She also organised the Capsule tradeshow in Paris.

After graduating from IM she started as an assistant designer for Givenchy men's collections, casting an eye over prints and fabrics, which is one of her favourite fields of experimentation.

This was soon followed in London by a stint first as a technical illustrator at JW Anderson, then as coordinator of production at Loft Design By. But Givenchy called and Katja returned to Paris, this time as a stylist.

In September 2012 designed the men’s junior collections for Givenchy, and now also manages special projects and the design of printed materials.
